Rest In Peace Steve Dunn

It is with great sadness that we at Denton Town FC have lost one of our longest serving committee members, Steve Dunn. We offer our sincere condolences to Steve’s family.

Still reeling from the loss of our president Geoff Gable last year, we have now lost our good friend Steve.

Steve, Geoff, Alan Allott, Pete O’Rourke and Neil Worswick were the founding members of Denton Town FC. In 1994, they took over what was then, a rundown derelict building, Whittles Park playing field. Between them they turned the pitch into the envy of the Lancashire & Cheshire League, along with the friendly and welcoming clubhouse.

Steve was pivotal in holding the purse strings, eventually becoming Secretary and Treasurer in the 1995/96 season. Steve was a larger than life character, and until ill-health just before Covid, he was continuously helping where he could around the club. Only a couple of weeks ago he was asking for results that had not yet been shown on the league website!

Rest in peace Steve. Denton Town will always be indebted to you.
